About the Author
Laurie Schneider Adams received a Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University. She is Professor Emerita of Art History at John Jay College, City University of New York, where she taught art survey, and at the Graduate Center, where she taught courses on the Italian Renaissance and on Art and Psychoanalysis. She has published articles on iconography and on art and psychology. She is the editor of Giotto in Perspectiveand of the quarterly journal Source: Notes in the History of Art; the author of A History of Western Art, Art across Time, The Methodologies of Art, Art and Psychoanalysis, and Art on Trial; and co-author (with Maria Grazia Pernis) of Federico da Montefeltro and Sigismondo Malatesta: The Eagle and the Elephant, as well as Lucrezia Tornabuoni de' Medici and the Medici Family in Fifteenth-Century Italy, and of 5 children's books (with Allison Coudert).

Text Book for Art History Class

Wow! For the summer semester, the advance notice from the instructor was to read the introduction and first three chapters as the material we will cover the first week. Dense. (Not "stupid-dense", "intense-dense"). Assignment total of about 120 pages, and I've been reading it for almost a week -- and still have one chapter to go! BUT, and this is the five-star reason for my good feelings about this book, it is not only readable, as in a non-preachy style, but utterly fascinating. If I were not a struggling old sophomore, I think I might even consider owning this book just as a fount of general knowledge about the foundations and developments of art throughout the world. If you are interested in the world history of art, get it, and enjoy it!

Took a really long time to ship

It took a very long time to ship but it did arrive within the estimated time. It seems they shipped it at the very last minute to make it within the delivery period. I actually called Amazon to question what was happening with it.
Otherwise, the book itself is very well organized and has beautiful pictures. While it's for a class, I will probably keep it rather than selling it back or trading it.

I needed this book for my art history class and decided to rent from amazon since the campus bookstore was behind schedule. The book arrived within the time frame specified and was in excellent condition.
