A great book from a great professor.

After taking some classes from Dr. Steve Feller, I got interested in holograms. Dr. Feller does offer a class about Holography, but I could not take it due to class scheduling conflict. That being said after reading the book I was very surprised to see how simple it is to make a rudimentary hologram using standard camera film. At the end of this semester, I am going to try my hand at making one. I would encourage anyone who had an interested in learning how these are made to read this book.

Die beste Deon Meyer boek nog! Bennie Griessel is terug en nugter; ten minste aan die begin. Iemand "jaag en jag" 'n mooi jong vrou, en Kaptein Griessel moet haar kry voordat sy gevang word. Maar, Bennie is ook nou 'n mentor in SAPS, en daar's nog 'n moord op dieselfde dag in die musiekbedryf wat sy aandag aftrek. Hoe gaan hy twee moorde oplos en die jong vrou veilig hou in 13 uur?

Van die eerste bladsy wou ek net hierdie boek lees. My vrou het dit opgetel voordat ek klaar is, en nou baklei ons oor wie kans kry om dit te lees! Koop hierdie boek. Jy sal nie jammer wees nie.

Ek het geglo daar is net twee tipe afrikaanse boeke - polse sny Andre P Brink-erige boeke of verloor breinselle Ena Murray-rige boeke. Ek was verkeerd. Deon skryf 'n boek wat eg Suid-Afrikaans is. Die storie sowel as die karakters is realisties en daarby is dit waarlik 'n naelbyter. Alhoewel dit nie 'n bleeding heart boek is nie, word dit met deernis geskryf vir die karakters en hulle situasies.

Deon Meyer has perfectly captured the Western Cape, its people, its language, and the trials, tribulations and also triumphs of today's South Africa. About the Author

Arthur E. Chapman, PhD, is professor emeritus in the School of Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, where he has taught and researched since 1970. Chapman has published more than 35 articles and presented more than 45 papers for refereed conferences, seminars, and workshops throughout the world. His research interests have included validation and modification of mechanical models of human muscle by means of direct observation in vivo and the mechanical properties of squash balls, rackets, and shoes and their implications for manufacturing and strategy in the game. His current interest is in computer simulation of control and performance of sporting movements, kinematic and kinetic criteria of skills involving gross body movements, and the modeling of human bodily motion using external inputs of force and internal inputs of muscle force.

At Simon Fraser University, Chapman has served as a member of the University Ethics Committee as chair of the Departmental Safety Committee and chair of the Human Movement Stream for the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee. Chapman is a past member of the Canadian Association of Sports Sciences and a founding member of both the Canadian Society of Biomechanics and the International Society of Biomechanics.

Between 1997 and 2000 Chapman served as an interviewer for the University of British Columbia Medical Admissions Board. As a biomechanist, he has served as an expert witness in numerous court cases throughout Canada providing human biomechanical analysis of automobile accidents, sports injuries, trips, and falls.

Chapman received his PhD in biomechanics in 1975 from the University of London, England. A 1965 Fulbright scholar, Chapman was also selected as the Rosenstadt Research Professor for the University of Toronto in 1992.

Chapman has been involved in rugby and track and field at a representative level and at an A level in squash. Currently he is a daily average golfer who declares to be improving.

Good idea, but flawed execution.

This book could be excellent if the author and editors would fix one thing, namely the referencing, or lack thereof. Having a text that focuses on movement in this way is a great idea, and something that is sorely needed in the field. However, the fact that the text includes almost nothing in the way of references for each chapter is frustrating. For example, I used this text to put together a graduate course in Biomechanics last year. The problem? I wanted to have students go deeper into the material by looking at research articles on the various topics and sub-topics covered in the text. The text however, includes very little in the way of references for the information it contains, and in most cases, it simply includes something at the end of the chapter suggesting another text if the reader wants more information. The text should be revised to include detailed references throughout the chapters and a reference list at the end of each chapter, as is appropriate for an upper level text, so that: 1) people know the sources for the information and claims which are made; and. 2) professors can assign readings easily to support the material being presented in the text.

I purchased this book to learn more about the biomechanics of walking. It is easy to read and understand, even for a lay-person. The book is well-illustrated and includes a helpful, detailed index.

good but not excellent

FOR THE WRITER, good but not excellent ..did not like the Nephrology at all, need review the CNS stroke has serious fatal mistakes in mangament. Where is the preventive medicine. ? ADD CHAPTER FOR THAT. Toxicology need additions. dermatology need additions too. where is ENT? shock is not well written. pulmonology is also need revision may be you need to take another help from another good teacher or somone who have a lot to add. you book is good but not excellent ...i liked the organization and short notes that make you remember quickly and finish the book from a to z in short time.

excellent book that has usmle world concepts in it.

This is a great book which when used with usmle world, improves your score by 30 to 40 points. it covers lots of concepts from usmle world and kaplan q bank . a must have in conjuction with the q banks. i highly recommend it. its compact and easy to read and so memorization is easy. great job Dr. Dhesi!!

has the potential of a great book, but still far from it

Spelling mistakes continue, even tho it's the second edition. Still disappointed and some of the information is incorrect, therefore, must correlate with another text.

The good thing is the organization and flow of the material is great. He covers a good deal of topics

I think it's best to avoid this book, it's better to use another book and go through the qbanks (Kaplan and Uworld) and add any important information yourself.
